Description
Old Boat 2 Stonington Maine
A weathered boat with peeling paint and visible signs of wear rests on a rocky shore, its oars lying unused and faded within. Shrouded in soft shadows, the vessel exudes a sense of nostalgia and forgotten adventures.
Stonington Harbor, Hancock County, Deer Isle, Maine.
I was always a big fan of the early Hollywood portrait photographers like Clarence Sinclair Bull and George Hurrell who used special lenses designed for soft focus like the Wollensak Veritos to create their dreamy, glamorous images of stars like Greta Garbo, Theda Bara, Mary Pickford, Jean Harlow and Hedy Lamarr.
This image was created with one of those lenses adapted to use on a 35mm digital camera.
Great gift for Boyfriend, Husband, Dad, Son, Brother, Grandfather.

David this is beautiful and love the composition. If you don't mind you said it's in the lens, what lens is that if you don't mind me asking? :-) /L,F
David Smith replied:
Hi Patrice In this case it's a 10" Wollensak Veritar from the early 50's with a custom adapter to mount it on a Hasselblad bellows and Hasselblad to Canon adapter to mount it to the body. 10" = 254mm so it's a bit long for most work. I've recently acquired a 6" Verito from the 20's and I'm having an adapter made for that to use with a Mamiya bellows that has movements.

Lovely impressionist post work on this photo, voted in Boats.
David Smith replied:
Thanks, but it's in camera, or lens to be specific. The only thing done in post was a saturation boost and burning in the background.
