Cracked Rear View is the debut album by Hootie & the Blowfish, an American rock band formed in 1986 and released 5 July 1994 by Atlantic Records. The album remains their most successful and was the best selling album of 1995 with 10.5 million units sold. It is the 19th best selling album of all time in the US. By 2018 the album was certified 21X Platinum by the RIAA.
While on the Billboard 200 that year it reached #1 on the charts in Canada and New Zealand. The Billboard 200 of 1990-1999 rates the album #7. In 1996 the single “Let Her Cry” won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals and the band won the Best New Artist Grammy also. The band’s lineup included Darius Rucker – vocals, acoustic guitar, Mark Bryan – electric & acoustic guitar, mandolin, piano, Dean Felber, bass clavinet, vocals, and Jim “Soni” Sonefeld – drums, percussion, vocals. The band went on hiatus in 2008. They returned in 2019 with the release of their sixth album Imperfect Circle and a reunion tour.
