Description
This is my Aunt Katie's house. Originally, it was built by her parents when they came to this country from Sicily. It sits in a very small Louisiana town called Melville which is on the Atchafalaya River After the flood of 1927, the house had to be rebuilt.
Aunt Katie was married to Uncle Frank. They lived in this house till they died. She was over 90 years old when she passed away.
Aunt Katie had two sisters. Bernadette lived next door, and Frances lived across the street. She had two brothers. Joseph, "Joe" lived a few blocks away, and Michael, who was my grandfather had left Melville and lived in New Orleans.
I can still remember going to Aunt Katie's house when I was a child. She always had homemade cookies and cakes. We used to play in her huge back yard.
This is how it looks today. Still standing after all these years.
