Description
It was July of 1965 when at the young age of 9 (2 months shy of my 10th birthday) I learned the meaning of loss. My best friend, Eddie Brown, died in a drowning accident in the San Jacinto River in Texas. I remember everything about the funeral and graveside burial. It would be nearly 50 years before I was able to go back and find his grave. It's now been 52 years since he died. After visiting the grave I looked over and saw this neatly spaced line of trees. I took a picture of it and it will always remind me of the two times I've been to that cemetery. I remember how all eyes were on me at the service because it well known that Eddie and I were like the town's "Huck and Tom".
