Description
A supermoon is a full moon closely coinciding with when the moon is at the nearest point to Earth in its monthly elliptical orbit causing the moon to appear bigger and brighter. In the one hundred year span from 1948 to 2048 the November 2016 supermoon was one of the three closest full moons.
In anticipation of the November 2016 supermoon I photographed the moon the night before the official supermoon in addition to the night of the supermoon. In Tahoe, by the time the full moon rises over the ridge, the sky is dark. Shooting a night earlier (when the moon rose earlier) gave me the chance to capture a moon that appeared full, big and bright but also showed a little scenery. See also my Extra-Super Supermoon 2016 which was shot the next night.
